International Competition of Young Fashion Designers 2004 entry
Dubbed by Mega Magazine as the young "engineer," Brian Leyva's most remarkable entry to fashion was his "5-centavo coin" terno which won him an award in the most pretigious fashion competition International Competition of Young Fashion Designers in Paris, France last December 2004. Since then , Leyva showed his creativity in fabric manipulation gaining mastery in draping and intricacy in detailing which creates organic texture with a modern finish. Leyva could've been the Haider Ackerman of the Philippines in the next 5 years but tragic violence cut this young man's life short. Sadly, every year, a young and most promising fashion figure dies in violence-related crime in the Philippines. Leyva, among others who were gone to soon, will forever be remembered for their creativity and kindness. Rest in peace, Brian.
