THIS IS NOT HOLLYWOOD!

DAY 1 ON THE RCXY ZOE PROJECT!

The next 48 hours of my life will beat Rachel Zoe (ep 7)!

My favorite A-list client Alessandra de Rossi called me to inform that she needs a red-carpet outfit for Gawad Guillermo Tolentino on Sunday. Yup, that soon! Rachel preps Oscar outfits for weeks but this is no Hollywood. Prep time is less than 24 hours and the time starts now!!!

In creating a perfect red-carpet look, there are thousands of factors to be considered and I'm discovering another thousand. One is that Ms. De Rossi is not a nominee but a presentor. Choosing the right outfit is a bit tricky. Superstar that she is, she MUST not upstage the nominees, otherwise she will come out overdressed and attention-hungry. However, this fact is not an excuse to look drab. There should be the right amount of star-glamour and understated elegance in what she will be wearing. Another factor is comfort. Knowing Ms. De Rossi, comfort comes first before style. I'm a follower of the opposite though. It's always a lengthy discussion and a load of convincing power to make her say yes to what I want. The fun part is that we settle to something we both love. It's not difficult to put her in anything because her body proportion is perfect. She looks amazing in anything you put her in. The question really is just what to put on her.

So, this is not Hollywood and I'm no Rachel Zoe. Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, and Marchesa don't send their Kuh-tooors on my doorstep. Cartier, Harry Winston and Van Cleefe & Arpels won't come opening their vaults for me. In the third-world setting I'd go around calling and knocking on designers in my phonebook to view their latest available pieces, but thanks to facebook, clickthecity.com and runway2reality.com, photos of the designer's latest collections are available for viewing. Just how style.com works. (Makes me wonder, shouldn't it be stylebible.ph the one colating these designers profiles and shows, yet they don't?)

Anyway, for this awards night, I am thinking of "LEGS ON THE RED CARPET SERVED HOT!"! The recently concluded Philippine Fashion Week showed legs more than a bucket of KFC! Fortunately, Ms. de Rossi has lean long legs (and not so KFC-ish) which in itsefl a show-stopper. Thanks to her Italian dad's genes.
I found three interesting outfits which I am considering for her. The first one is by Avel Bacudio (from his Metrowear 100), a blue gown with front slit and plunging V-neckline. Blue is amazing on red-carpet and this is a sure win. It shouts "wear me on the red-carpet!" I'm not sure if this is still available, though. The next outfit is by Marc Rancy which I think is very playful, young, sophisticated and cosmopolitan. It has classic clean lines with just the right amount of embellishments in fresh soft blush. Playing it short on the red-carpet is a breather from the usual draped jerseys and goddess gowns. Third is this rather experimental black mesh draped gown by Tina Daniac with short front hem and long , billowy train which is very 'now' (minus the collar accessory). It's not a safe bet because it's somewhat new on the red carpet scene but amazing, and interesting ,nevertheless. I like the Alexander Wang-esque mesh and the Balmain silhouette in draped Yamamoto style. It doesn't matter if black don't register the details well on TV but the drapings are interesting and commands a second-look.

Hmmm...which one to choose?
